Exeter was settled as a cattle farm by James Badgery in 1821 and named after the County town of Devon. By the 1880’s Exeter was an established village community. The Exeter Railway Station is heritage listed and opened in 1878, as Badgerys Siding, being renamed Exeter on 12 August 1890. It is still in use (Goulburn line) and it is one of the best small station complexes in NSW and demonstrates all the elements of a turn of the century rural station.
